SERVICES – We have services in St Olaf’s at 11am on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month throughout the year, and on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.
Sunday 11th December – 11am Morning Worship
Wednesday 21st December at 6pm – CAROLS IN THE INN – in the bar at the Wasdale Head Inn – an occasion not to be missed! Our thanks to the Inn for hosting the event each year. Many stay on for a meal afterwards, a convivial evening is in prospect! The event will be led by the Rector, Philip Dorling.
Christmas Day at 11am – Festival Holy Communion, also led by the Rector Philip Dorling. This is usually the best attended service of the year, please come if you can.
Sunday 8th January at 11am – Celtic Praise
Sunday 22nd January at 11am – Morning Praise
On the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month there is a service at Nether Wasdale at 9.30am. Nether Wasdale is at the ther end of the Lake – just 4 miles west of Wasdale Head. The beautiful little church of St Michael and All Angels is in the centre of the village.
Cumbria is ecumenical and at St Olaf’s we like to forget labels, so we have created worship that reflects this. We also know that many come to enjoy Wasdale too, so our services last around 45 minutes. We have four core services that are used in rotation – Morning Worship, Communion, Morning Praise and Celtic Praise – the latter a peaceful and inspiring way to share time together in the Celtic tradition. All four services have been compiled and written especially for St Olaf’s.
If you are coming to join us and have a musical talent – please let us know* and bring it with you! We have a superb little chamber pipe organ, as it has no pedals pianists can play it, and a music system when no organist is available. We love to make use of visiting musical talent when we worship!
